AP CM to launch trial production today of Kia Motors

Kia Motors is going to commence trial production at its plant in Anantapur district within a record time of one year from Tuesday, press release said.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will launch the trial run of the first car along with Kia Motors MD Shim in the presence of South Korean Ambassador to India Shin Bongkil.

Kia Motors is going to invest over ₹12,900 cr in its greenfield car manufacturing plant in phases. The plant will have initial installed capacity of 3 lakh vehicles per annum and it may be increased to 4 lakh vehicles.

This factory will create 4,000 permanent jobs and another 7,000 temporary jobs.

The production volume will comprise of 90 per cent domestic sales and ten per cent exports.

Kia Motors will also collaborate with the State government to develop an ecosystem for electric vehicles.

The Korean carmaker has started its operation in India, by setting up a mega manufacturing plant at Yerramanchi village at Penugonda mandal of Anantapur district.

For every six months, KIA Motors is planning to release a new model car into the Indian market from this production unit.
